Manager, People, Canada Location: Toronto, ON, Hybrid, 4 days on-site Monday to Thursday Language: Strong written and spoken English communication required Duration: Full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract Compensation: Up to $130,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility About the Opportunity Altis Recruitment is partnering with a global organization in the music and entertainment industry to find an experienced People Manager for its Canadian operations. Supporting approximately 140 employees across corporate, creative and technology teams, this is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad People portfolio during an important period of transition. You’ll lead a small People team while partnering closely with senior leadership and global HR partners. This role is ideal for an energetic, hands-on HR professional who enjoys autonomy, thrives in a creative environment and can move comfortably between strategic conversations and day-to-day execution. Your Responsibilities You’ll lead the transition of Canadian payroll to an external provider and oversee biweekly payroll reviews and audits. You’ll own the performance review process and support the annual merit and bonus cycle. You’ll implement People programs and campaigns, including career frameworks and job ladders. You’ll partner with senior leaders on workforce, culture, employee experience and organizational initiatives. You’ll provide hands-on HR guidance across employee relations, talent, compensation and day-to-day People matters. You’ll lead and develop two direct reports, a People Partner and Payroll Specialist. Skills and Qualifications 7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within music, media, entertainment, technology, gaming, marketing or a creative agency environment. Strong HR business partnering combined with hands-on HR operations experience. Practical Canadian payroll knowledge, including experience reviewing or auditing payroll. Payroll vendor transition experience is an asset. Demonstrated ownership of performance management, merit and bonus cycles. Experience implementing HR programs and managing projects independently. Previous experience managing or mentoring HR professionals. Strong judgment, energy and confidence partnering with senior leadership.
