Job details
Location: Toronto, ON, Hybrid, 3 days per week in office (open to remote candidates) Language: Advanced written and spoken English About the Opportunity Our client, a global software organization with a high-growth acquisition model, is looking for a VP, Finance and Controllership to lead the operational core of its Finance function. You’ll own the global close, consolidation, audit, and reporting rhythm across a complex portfolio of acquired businesses, helping create consistency while supporting continued growth. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives at scale and brings both humility and strong technical judgment. You’ll lead senior Finance professionals, partner closely with the CFO and cross-functional leaders, and work with Finance teams across the organization to strengthen processes without losing sight of the people behind them. What’s in it for You Join an energetic, collaborative environment that combines the pace and financial discipline of an acquisition-focused business with a people-first, long-term approach. You’ll have significant executive exposure, the opportunity to shape a global Finance function, and a culture that values smart execution, innovation, balance, and low-ego leadership. Your Responsibilities You’ll own the global US GAAP close and consolidation across a large, multi-entity, multi-currency organization. You’ll lead the year-end audit and oversee group-level technical accounting. You’ll drive improvements to close timelines, reporting practices, controls, systems, and automation. You’ll integrate newly acquired businesses into a repeatable Finance and reporting framework. You’ll lead and develop senior teams across Controllership, Payroll, ERP and Reporting, while remaining hands-on when needed. You’ll partner with the CFO, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Finance leaders across the portfolio. Skills and Qualifications 12+ years of progressive controllership experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership. CPA designation and deep, recent US GAAP expertise are required. Experience personally owning ultimate-parent consolidation across 40+ heterogeneous legal entities, ideally at significant global scale. Strong experience in a high-volume acquisition environment, including integration and technical accounting. Background with Big 4 or another reputable public accounting firm. Software experience is preferred, with strong ERP expertise required. Humble, collaborative leadership style with the ability to move between technical detail and executive-level insights. Note from the Hiring Manager “We’re looking for someone who brings real technical depth and knows how to operate at scale, but who leads with humility. This is a hands-on role for someone who can make things better, bring people with them, and get things done.” Why Partner with Altis If you’ve never worked with a staffing agency before, we make it easy.
