Job Description Dal Catering, operated by Aramark at Dalhousie University, is seeking a Catering Operations Supervisor to join our team. This is a hands-on, full-time position ideal for an organized, dependable, and self-sufficient individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced catering and event environment. The Catering Operations Supervisor will help oversee daily catering operations, support event execution, coordinate staff, and ensure that catering services are delivered professionally and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking initiative, solving problems independently, and working closely with both clients and the catering team.Job Responsibilities Supervise and support catering staff during daily operations and events. Assist with the coordination and execution of catered events across the Dalhousie campus. Help ensure events are properly set up, serviced, broken down, and cleaned up. Coordinate staff assignments and provide direction during events. Ensure catering standards, presentation, customer service, and cleanliness are consistently maintained. Assist with food, beverage, bar, equipment, smallwares, linens, and event setup requirements. Help monitor inventory and ensure catering equipment and supplies are properly maintained and returned. Act as an onsite point of contact for clients, staff, and event organizers when required. Assist with resolving operational issues quickly and professionally. Ensure food safety, workplace safety, and Aramark/Dalhousie policies and procedures are followed. Assist with bar and beverage service when required. Help train and support new and existing catering employees. Communicate effectively with the Catering Manager, chefs, supervisors, servers, bartenders, and other team members. Complete opening, closing, setup, and event-related duties as required. Maintain a professional appearance and represent Dal Catering and Aramark positively at all times. Perform other catering and operational duties as required. Qualifications Previous supervisory or leadership experience, particularly in hospitality, catering, food service, or events. Catering, banquet, restaurant, hotel, or event-service experience. Previous bartending or beverage-service experience. Experience supervising or coordinating a team. Strong customer-service experience. Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced environment. SMART SERVE or a similar recognized alcohol-service certification would be considered a strong asset. Experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong customer service, leadership, organizational, and hospitality skills who demonstrate the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply. This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
