BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking individuals interested in the following position(s): Competition Number: PS0726– Part-Time Program Staff Positions: Multiple Status: Temporary Part Time—Variable hours Salary Range: $22.48 per hour The key responsibilities of this position will include: * Planning and delivering fun and safe recreational and educational afterschool programs to children ages 6 to 17 years. * Providing direct supervision, behavior management, support and mentoring to children and youth ensuring positive relationships occur. * Building relationships with children and youth in order to understand their individual and collective needs from the program. * Maintaining up-to date required documentation and completing other required reporting. * Completing tasks related to the daily routine including basic food preparation, serving and cleaning. * Following all safety and cleaning protocols set out by AHS and the agency in order to safely run programming. * NOTE: This position supports indigenous based programming including ceremonial smudging. The successful candidate will have: * Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and youth in a group setting. * An in-progress degree or diploma in a human services related field such as social work, child and youth care, education. * Demonstrated understanding of others and the ability to facilitate groups of children and youth. * Demonstrated good communication skills (written and oral). * Ability to manage time with youth effectively and be results oriented. * Ability to function independently and as part of a team. * A satisfactory Police Information Check (including Vulnerable Sector) and an Intervention Record Check completed within the last 6 months. * A valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and auto insurance with at least $2 million in liability coverage. Candidates must be capable of performing independently as well as part of a team environment and have excellent interpersonal skills.
