Student Equipment Coordinator Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment. We are seeking a student to join us for a 4 or 8 month co-op position starting in January 2027. This position will be based out of Edmonton, Alberta. What You Will Be Working On Yard Coordination: Coordinate the supply of tools Track all transfers of tools and small equipment to and from the yard Load c cans with various tools Help with c can shelving modifications Install Westrac GPS/signage on all things Work with others repairing small equipment such as heaters and various other tools Learn to operate heavy equipment in a yard setting. Loader, skid steer, forklift, zoomboom. Loading and unloading trucks Pick up parts (parts runs) when needed. Gain basic knowledge of basic electrical items such as cable and panels Participate in toolbox meetings. Conduct inventory logs of equipment and tools Take and coordinate westrac “catalog” photos of various supplies in the yard for site Monthly safety inspections What We Are Looking For Who We Need on Our Team: You are currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, Construction Management, or a related diploma, degree, or equivalent program. You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher Basic construction, equipment, and tool handling knowledge is an asset Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships Exemplify the Ideal Team Player – Hungry, Humble, Smart Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing. Requirements
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a relevant engineering, construction, or heavy equipment technology program with at least one semester remaining. Applicants should possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
