The role leads two integrated areas: major capital infrastructure planning and project delivery, including space planning and relocations; and multi-site plant operations and maintenance, including asset stewardship, sustainability, long-range renewal and preventive maintenance. The Director builds a responsive, customer-focused service culture, communicates effectively with clinical and corporate partners, and directs a combination of internal teams, consultants, contractors and service providers to maintain safe, reliable and compliant healthcare environments. Qualifications Required Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, facilities management or a related discipline; a relevant professional designation or licence in Ontario is preferred. Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in complex facilities, infrastructure, engineering or capital project environments, including significant responsibility for both project delivery and plant operations. Demonstrated success leading multi-million-dollar capital projects from planning and approvals through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out; healthcare experience is strongly preferred. Formal education or advanced training in project management, facilities management, engineering or construction management; Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is strongly preferred. Proven ability to establish project management governance, policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, controls, reporting and performance measures. Experience leading multi-site plant operations, asset management, preventive maintenance, lifecycle planning, utilities, building automation, emergency response and service contracts in a complex, continuously operating environment. Experience with space planning, relocations, facility-condition assessment, infrastructure renewal planning, sustainability and energy-management initiatives. Strong financial and commercial acumen, including capital and operating budgets, forecasting, procurement, contract management, risk management and change control. Knowledge of healthcare facility requirements, relevant legislation, building and fire codes, occupational health and safety, construction infection prevention and control, accreditation expectations and applicable technical standards. Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system and capital approval and funding environment is preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and external professionals, build accountability, manage competing priorities and deliver results in a complex stakeholder environment. Demonstrated experience in performance management, coaching and mentoring, including setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, addressing performance issues, developing leaders and supporting succession planning. Strong customer-service orientation with a record of building trusted relationships and communicating clearly, proactively and respectfully with staff, physicians, senior leaders, the Board, consultants, contractors, government partners and community stakeholders. Excellent facilitation, presentation, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement; experience with Lean or an equivalent improvement methodology is an asset. Available to participate in the Hospital Administrator On-Call rotation and to respond to significant facilities events outside regular hours, as required. Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for travel among Brightshores sites. Requirements
Requires an undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, facilities management, or a related discipline, plus at least ten years of progressive leadership experience in complex facilities, infrastructure, engineering, or capital project environments. Candidates should bring substantial capital project and plant operations experience, strong financial and people leadership skills, knowledge of healthcare facility requirements, and preferably a relevant Ontario professional designation and PMP certification.
