We are a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency. For over 35 years, we have been a valued multi-service agency and a registered charity promoting community values and well-being for the East York East Toronto neighborhood, performing a wide spectrum of relevant community work. Every year, thousands of children and adults attend our child and family drop-ins, parenting education programs, child care centres, prenatal nutrition and education programs. Families and individuals turn to us for support to find and maintain housing, access food, and other essentials of life. By working in close collaboration with community partners, participants, clients, volunteers, and members, we are able to quickly identify emerging community needs and respond with new, innovative and meaningful programs to fill the gaps. The Board of East York East Toronto Family Resources is recruiting for an Executive Director. Reporting and accountable to the Board of Directors, as chief executive officer of the Corporation, the Executive Director (“ED”) is responsible for the overall day-to-day financial and operational management of the agency and provides leadership within the organization consistent with the agency’s Mission and Strategic Plan. The role oversees and directs the development and implementation of adopted plans, policies and programs. In consultation with the Board Chair, the ED sees that the Board is effectively organized and supported. The ED also carries overall responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including assuring adequate financial resources are in place to meet current operating needs and long-term goals. What You Bring To This Role A seasoned leader (ED or senior leadership experience) in the non-profit sector, with a minimum 5 years of prior executive/senior administrative management experience in a non-profit, multi-service or broader human service context Expertise in the fields of early childhood education, early child development and/or family support is considered to be a strong asset Demonstrated ability to lead a complex, multi service nonprofit at the executive and corporate level, with strong understanding of governance, risk and liability, regulatory requirements, and relationships with government and funders, and the ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of the organization and the communities it serves Demonstrated experience working effectively with a volunteer Board of Directors within a policy governance framework, with a clear understanding of the respective roles and responsibilities of the Board and the ED Strong financial acumen, with the ability to oversee financial management, budgeting and organizational resources Strong networking and community development skills, with demonstrated ability to build organizational and human capacity and foster effective community partnerships Demonstrated ability to understand and navigate complex legal, statutory and regulatory requirements Experience working with culturally diverse populations in a community-based setting; a solid understanding of individual and family needs within diverse communities Strong social policy and advocacy skills, a strategic thinker with good management skills who is politically savvy Excellent English language communication skills – written and verbal Proven experience in leading senior managers Demonstrated ability to function in an administrative leadership capacity in a team setting Demonstrated commitment to social change Highly proficient in computer and online literacy skills (word processing, spreadsheets, online platforms, Internet, email) Assets Management-side experience in a unionized workplace Understanding of the complexities of licensed childcare, including licensing, regulatory and funding requirements Registered regulated professional in a related field (e.g. CPA, RECE, RSW, etc.) Education: Master’s degree in a related discipline (preferred) What Eyet Offers You Compensation range of $153,000 to $172,000 per annum, commensurate with experience 6 weeks paid vacation 15 paid sick days and 3 paid float days Mileage/parking reimbursement at current CRA rates for business travel and related expenses Annual lump-sum employer contribution to employee’s self-directed RRSP 100% employer paid health benefits: prescription drugs, health care professionals, vision and dental A family-like organization, trusted workspace A strong board of directors APPLICATION DETAILS This search is being conducted on behalf of EYET by crawfordconnect, a search firm specializing in recruiting leaders for Canada’s nonprofit sector. Candidates should bring strong financial, governance, regulatory, community partnership, advocacy, and people-leadership capabilities; a related master’s degree is preferred, and early childhood or family-support expertise is an asset.
