Why is this role important? The Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance (QA) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of CIHI’s deliverables by working closely with ITS staff and business units. This role involves acting as the QA representative on projects, designing and executing complex test scripts, coordinating test efforts, and contributing to the evolution of CIHI’s QA methodologies. The Senior Analyst serves as a subject matter expert in test automation and quality assurance best practices, providing guidance and support to team members. What you'll do 1. Represent QA on project teams, collaborating with business and development groups to understand product functionality and testing impacts. 2. Design test strategies, create and execute test plans, cases, and scripts for product releases; identify or create test data; log defects; and sign off on product quality. 3. Lead and coordinate test efforts on projects and development activities, including automation initiatives. 4. Investigate bugs and issues during testing and recommend solutions. 5. Develop and maintain test automation frameworks for front-end, API, and accessibility testing. Design, develop, execute, and maintain performance/load testing scripts and test scenarios using appropriate performance testing tools 6. Promote adherence to CIHI’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies. 7. Participate in impact assessments for change requests and review deliverables for compliance with quality standards. 8. Maintain and administer automated test tools and provide training and support to users. 9. Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, policies, and metrics. 10. Support testing of data warehousing, business intelligence solutions, and cloud-based data structures. 11. Collaborate effectively within the QA team and across the organization to ensure high-quality outcomes. 12. Provide hands-on technical QA/SDET expertise, designing and enhancing reusable Playwright/TypeScript automation frameworks and contributing across API and end-to-end testing, CI/CD integration, accessibility automation, and performance/load testing using tools such as k6 and JMeter. What you'll bring to the table • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. • Further specialization or experience in Quality Assurance methodologies and test automation is preferred. • 3-5 years of experience in a technical analytical QA/QE role within software development cycles. • Demonstrated experience in test planning, test case development and execution, test data management, and defect tracking. • Experience with front-end automation frameworks, API testing tools like Postman or Rest Assured and CI/CD integrations (e.g., Bamboo, Jenkins), Performance testing (eg: JMeter or K6 or load runner). • Experience with black-box testing techniques including functional, security, regression, usability, and user acceptance testing. • Experience with accessibility (AODA) and responsive design testing is an asset. • Hands-on expertise in test automation tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, TestNG, or similar. Playwright using Typescript is preferred. • Familiarity with RDBMS, SQL, , BI analytical tools (eg: Qlik, Power BI, MicroStrategy etc), and web technologies (Java, HTML, JavaScript). • Familiarity with cloud-based data transformation and data warehousing concepts is preferred. Experience with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Athena, CloudWatch, and related technologies is considered an asset. • Knowledge of systems development methodologies (UML, RUP, CMM, TMMi) is preferred. • Knowledge required and hands-on performance/load testing experience using k6 and/or JMeter/or Load Runner, including workload modelling, concurrent-user testing, response-time/throughput analysis and identifying performance bottlenecks • Knowledge of ETL pipelines and backend data infrastructure is an asset. • Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end application architecture and testing across front-end, API/service, and backend/data layers, with the ability to determine the appropriate level of testing and automation • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills. • Strong team player with a client/user orientation. • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage workload effectively. Additional Requirements • Primary locations: Toronto or Ottawa. • Must comply with all CIHI workplace policies, including privacy and confidentiality. • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.

Requirements

Requires a degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience, plus 3–5 years in a technical QA/QE role. Candidates should have hands-on experience with test planning and automation, preferably Playwright with TypeScript, API and CI/CD testing, performance testing, and testing across application and data layers.
