LOCATION: Devonshire Village - Edmonton, AB Position: Health Care Aide - Permanent Part-Time FTE: 0.4 Line: Split Shift 8:00am-1:00pm; 6:00pm-9:00pm) This position delivers resident-focused care within full scope of practice of a HCA, in a home-like environment, respecting the individuality and dignity of each resident/family and co-workers including the completion of the following duties: Position Responsibilities * Assist residents with medication administration, bathing, grooming, dressing, applying treatment creams, assisting in therapeutic activities, and ensure daily, the neatness of residents’ rooms, furniture, clothes closets, mobility devices, tub/washrooms, utility rooms, and kitchen/serveries * Participate in all aspects of personal resident care to ensure the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of each resident/family are met and so that the resident is as independent as possible * Deliver effective and efficient care under the direction of the supervisor that promotes resident/family choice and acknowledges the resident strengths, limitations, as well as their need for safety and the safety of another resident/family and staff * Participate in multidisciplinary committee work as required: Care conferences, as directed; Unit meetings, general staff meetings, and HCA meetings * Participate in continuing education to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced * Participate in continuous quality improvement of the care unit and associated care services by ongoing collection and documentation of data Qualifications and Education Requirements: * Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) from an accredited institution * CPR/BCLS for healthcare providers required * Active enrollment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory * Clear police information check, with the vulnerable sector, dated within the last 6 months * Demonstrated skills in communication, teamwork, organization, and customer service, with a high attention to detail and thoroughness and a demonstrated knowledge and commitment to person-centered care * Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control; adherence to safe work practices and procedures, and the ability to problem solve through critical thinking and self-education Other Bona-Fide Occupational Requirements * Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds) * Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things Disclaimer This job description indicates representative responsibilities and specifications of the position only and should not be considered to necessarily represent all responsibilities and specifications of the position.
