Job summary
Overview The City of Kitchener is seeking candidates to fill temporary labourer positions in the Roads and Traffic division. (Temporary Full Time for Approximately 10 Months) Responsibilities Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads. Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes. Maintaining waste receptacles, cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland. Winter work includes snow plowing and salting. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Additional Requirements Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Good communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records. Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour and be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to participate as an effective team member. Available for winter call outs as required. Shift work may be required for winter maintenance activities. Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
