About the role: At Compass ELC, you will work as a School Age Educator alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. You are passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in your pursuits of creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families. This position will be working in a kindergarten or school-age classroom. You will work 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 3 pm to 6 pm in after-school programming, with the opportunity to pick up some additional hours at our Minden full day program during the day. Full days During PA days, Winter break, March break, and Summer break, this role will work full-time hours. Hours will be based on the needs and funding of the program. Some accountabilities associated with the role include: Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play. Documenting children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions. Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children. Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits. Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process. Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment. Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities. Assist in housekeeping duties within the program. Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures. Paid Time Off - starting at 4% vacation accrued annually on hours worked and 4% personal sick time accrued annually on hours worked Unpaid Time - an option for permanent staff to purchase up to 4 weeks of unpaid time that is prorated off of 24 pays Skills and Qualifications: Requirements: 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth. Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards. Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records. Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma. Requirements
Requires 1-3 years of experience working with children and youth, along with a valid police vulnerable sector check, first aid, and CPR certification. Candidates must be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators or hold an eligible alternative childcare designation.
