Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Registered Dietitian role based in Ottawa, ON. RESPONSIBILITIES Complete nutritional assessments for all new admissions. On-going monitoring and assessment of residents who are identified as High Nutritional Priority Complete Quarterly and/or Annual Nutritional Assessments according to the interRAI schedule Evaluate nutritional adequacy of dietary intake by calculating and analyzing Food Intake Studies, as necessary Inform and educate residents, family members, and team members on nutritional care, as required Individualize resident’s diet to meet his or her needs by involving the resident’s family members, advocates, care givers, physician and other team members in care plan development Liaise with dietary manager, food service supervisor, registered nursing staff, families and government officials Review and approve the facilities bi-annual menu Document prescribed nutrition interventions and compliance, as per the nutrition care plan Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of prescribed nutrition interventions and resident’s tolerance Participate in quality services audit, clinical nutrition section Participate in Palliative Care Committee and Skin & Wound Committee · Assist the Food Service Manager to ensure compliance with all legislation such pertinent to the nutrition and hydration program. Qualifications Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing Bilingual - English and French Extensive knowledge of clinical and geriatric nutrition Knowledge of Point Click Care preferred Knowledge of InterRAI, CAPS, Care Planning and health authority regulations Knowledge of government legislation in the areas of long-term care Knowledge of food service sanitary and safety standards Minimum 2 years’ experience in long-term care setting preferred Superb organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles and legislation. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential Customer-focused attitude, with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients

Requirements

Candidates must be a Registered Dietitian in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and be bilingual in English and French. Preference is given to those with at least 2 years of experience in long-term care and knowledge of Point Click Care and InterRAI.
