Your future starts here. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Labourer is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment within the shop. This role supports daily operations by performing general cleaning, basic maintenance tasks, and ensuring shop areas remain organized and hazard‑free. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Empty garbage and recycling containers, replace liners, and safely dispose of waste materials, including scrap metal and other shop waste Clean, sweep, and maintain shop floors and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment Remove snow, ice, and debris from building entrances, doorways, and surrounding areas to maintain safe access for employees and equipment Pressure wash and clean maintenance bays, shop floors, machinery, tools, and company vehicles Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary shop facilities in accordance with established safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards Support a safe workplace by identifying and reporting hazards, unsafe conditions, and housekeeping concerns Assist with general shop maintenance and cleanliness tasks to ensure operational readiness and efficiency Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing assigned duties POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general equivalency Valid driver’s license 1 year eaxperience working on or around heavy equipment Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job Ability to pass the required written examinations, read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in English WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Annual fitness subsidy Part-time studies program PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
