Job summary
A Day in YOUR Life as a Public Cleaner Every person that enters a hotel should be greeted and feel like a guest! This is YOU on your first day of work and every work day after that. You walk in with a smile, say hello to passing guests and acknowledge your colleagues perhaps with a smile, nod or salutation. You are already taking in the surroundings and noticing items to be addressed, such as a discarded coffee cup on a table, and you aren’t even in uniform yet! After putting the cup in the trash, you make your way to the employee change room and transform into to your sharp, clean look with your professional and comfortable uniform, punch in at the time clock and energetically join your night-time teammates. You will be preparing to see how you will tackle the cleaning of public areas and assisting your Housekeeping teammates, if needed. Regardless of the time of day or length of shift you are ready to meet every guest with exceptional service, cleanliness and care! As the shift begins, you check in with your leader to prioritize your duties. This will enable you to efficiently plan your shift and complete essential tasks before you go home. The public areas have a big impact on a guest’s impression of the hotel, and you take pride in this. Nobody wants to see overflowing garbage cans, dusty lobby furniture, or dirty carpets in the hallways when they stay at a hotel. You will maintain and keep public areas clean to create a positive guest experience. Being a public cleaner, you will be required to pay attention to details. This is not only for maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel, but also observing what kind of guests are staying in the hotel. You will leave the vacuum aside and go outside to make sure the sidewalk is swept, no garbage is sitting on the planters and the entrance door handles look spotless. While you are wiping the window in the lobby, you may be called for mopping the elevator floor as someone spilled their food delivery. You will be ready and equipped to get the cleaning done swiftly. When you are dusting the hallways, you are asked to assist a teammate by moving some documents to the storage area. You are a team-player and enjoy helping your teammates. You are overseeing the cleanliness of the hotel, communicating and working collaboratively with the housekeeping department and other departments. You are always focused on our guests and their needs. Don’t forget you are their ambassador to our hotel, surroundings and city. By the time you leave, you are more than satisfied that the hotel is impeccably cleaned, sanitized and ready for your existing guests to return, new guests to arrive and have the best stay possible. Your standards are high, you like to be efficient in how you tackle cleaning and look for things that need to be corrected, communicate those through appropriate channels and take immense pride in the quality and cleanliness of the product our guests are paying for! Who you are and why is this important… Enthusiastic, Attentive and Approachable Ensuring our guests and team mates feel comfortable. Organized, Clean & Communicative Clear, concise communication between team members and guests alike creates a smooth operation.
