Maintenance Person Permanent Full-Time Abbotsford, BC Reference Number: NWP-BC-ABB-125-280726 SUMMARY Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance person is responsible for maintaining the industrial equipment required to operate a wood preserving plant. Responsibilities are focused on equipment repair, preventative maintenance and ensure regulatory compliance. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS Ensure equipment is properly maintained to meet quality, productivity, and reliability expectations. Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery breakdowns. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools. Operate hand and power tools including drills, grinders, welders, cutting torch in a safe and effective manner Identify opportunities for safety, quality, and reliability improvements. Conduct periodic inspections, completing preventative maintenance requirements, identifying and repairing or replacing faulty or suspect parts. Adheres to all work safety rules and regulations. Housekeeping duties as required. TECHNICAL SKILLS 3 – 5 years’ experience preferred Mechanical and welding skills preferred OTHER REQUIREMENTS Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms A safety conscious attitude with strict adherence to safe work practices and safe job procedures Accurately interpret work orders and technical manuals Good working knowledge of hydraulics Able to work in all weather conditions Bending, lifting, and reaching during course of shift Must be able to speak, read, and write English clearly and fluently Must be able to wear hand, eye and ear protection as required Must be physically fit to meet the daily physical demands of working on equipment PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT and TOOLS Must have own steel-toed boots EDUCATION: High school graduation EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time COMPENSATION $28-$30 per hour, depending upon experience Health and dental benefits Overtime may be available HOURS OF WORK Typically, 7:00am-3:30pm Monday to Friday with occasional weekends Must be flexible with start and finish times base on operational needs. Work Location: 33730 Enterprise Avenue, Abbotsford, BC, V2S 7T9. Transportation: Must have own reliable transportation. The site is not located on a bus route.
