The Respiratory Therapist performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including airway management and mechanical ventilation support for patients. They also participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, maintain equipment, and provide in-service education to staff and students. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and successfully completed the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam. Additionally, they must hold current CPR Level C and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
