Reporting to the Deputy Warden of Operations, the Women and Youth Correctional Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Women and Youth Correctional Caseworkers at the Nunavut Women's Correctional Centre (NWCC) and the Isumaqsunngittukkuvik Young Offenders (YO) Facility during an assigned shift. Working within a secure custodial environment, the position oversees the provision of a safe and secure custodial environment that emphasises women and youth client rehabilitation and reintegration. As a member of the facility leadership team, the position provides leadership, supervision, training, and mentoring to Women and Youth Correctional Caseworkers, oversees client programming and case management activities, and may perform the duties of a Women and Youth Correctional Caseworker or act in the Deputy Warden of Operations position when required. Department of Justice The Department of Justice (JUS) plays a vital role in promoting and protecting peaceful, secure and resilient communities by administering a justice system grounded in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit. Public safety and crime prevention are key focuses for the department, which manages correctional facilities and oversees policing services through an agreement with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Through community-based programming and restorative justice principles, the department also provides culturally relevant alternatives to the formal justice system and supports victims of crime. The department helps shape Nunavut’s future by drafting territorial laws, providing legal services to the Government of Nunavut and supporting the administration of Nunavut’s Courts. The supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight of correctional caseworkers and the management of client programming within a secure custodial environment. They ensure the facility maintains safety and security standards while promoting rehabilitation and reintegration for women and youth clients.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma and at least three years of correctional experience, including one year in a supervisory role. Successful completion of the Corrections Qaujimalaaqtut Training Program or an equivalent certification is required.
