Who we're looking for We are seeking a skilled Receiver to join our Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association Food Services team on a full-time basis (30-40 hours per week) at McMaster Children's Hospital. This position requires availability Monday to Friday, between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. As Receiver, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless logistical operations by accepting and checking delivered goods, as well as verifying and managing inventories for our café and cafeteria. This is a physical, hands-on role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. What you'll do * Receives products for food service following all receiving policies and procedures * Maintains records related to received goods and contact suppliers or couriers if there are issues * Manage inventory and ensure that storage conditions comply with set guidelines * Signs off on all deliveries and follows up on any discrepancies immediately * Follows up with Manager to ensure credits are received * When not receiving, performs the duties of stocking shelves and other related duties as directed by Management * Ensure proper storage and rotation of products to maintain costs of goods (FIFO) * Reacts to change productively and complete tasks assigned * Follows good sanitation practices * Assists in all quarterly inventories * Works within an environment with fluctuating temperatures (fridges/ freezers, etc.) * Completes other duties as assigned by Management * Communicates effectively with all staff, suppliers, and customers * Participates as an important part of the team What you bring * Minimum grade 12 education. * 2+ years in food service with inventory handling. * Knowledge and experience dealing with various suppliers. * Knowledge and experience dealing with public. * Excellent customer service skills. * Ability to accurately receive incoming order, and put stock away quickly. * Ability to work well in a team environment. * Knowledge of food safety requirements for handling in coming orders. * Able to lift up to 25lbs and stand for long periods of time. * Able to prioritize tasks and take initiative. * Adheres to all health and safety requirements. * Steel-toe shoes are required for this position. * Food Handler’s Certification or willing to take the course paid by the VA.
