CHILDCARE EDUCATOR CASUAL Various location The County of Hastings is currently accepting applications for Casual Childcare Educator at the County Administration Building. The Primary function is adhering to legislative requirement, this position is responsible to provide a program to assist children to achieve optimum physical, social, emotional and intellectual development. DUTIES * Plan and implement learning activities to meet the Ministry of Education’s requirements and provide a wide range of stimulating materials and activities. * Oversee activities that foster all areas of a child’s emotional, cognitive, social and physical development. * Supervise children and focus on the individual development of each child. Observe, evaluate and identify their unique needs. * Liaise and work co-operatively with a diverse range of professionals and other members of the community. Including school staff, special education coordinators, inclusion coaches, parents and licensing officials. * Uphold and ensure all Ministry regulations as outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. * Ensure supplies and equipment are organized, clean and well maintained. * Prepare and serve healthy snack options to the children in a sanitary environment, following a menu. * Provide temporary coverage for programs in all county run programs when required. * Other duties as may be required from time to time. QUALIFICATIONS * Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in the childcare field. * Must possess up to date First Aid and CPR certification, be current with immunizations and have record, clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, food handler’s certification. * Proven experience in a childcare setting with basic understanding of child development principles. * Ability to create engaging and educational activities for children. * Participate and be successful in all training as required by the County of Hastings. * Ability to effectively supervise large groups of children and work effectively under pressure. * Ability to effectively communicate with children, parents, co-workers and outside agencies. * Excellent interpersonal skills with a primary focus on attributes related to interacting with children to foster an environment conducive to their wellbeing, engagement, expression and belonging. * Must possess a current valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation. HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, (6:30am, 7am / 2:30pm, 3:00pm, Shifts may vary), with the possibility of increased hours AND as per Article 19 of the Collective Agreement WAGE RANGE: $27.31 - $30.00/hour + 4% vacation per pay + 14% in lieu of benefits CLOSING DATE: Posted until filled Juliana Finney Human Resources Advisor Talent Management & Acquisition This posting is to fill an existing vacancy and actively being recruited for.
