HCR Permanent Search is working with a leading automotive manufacturing company in Mississauga. They are searching for a Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator to lead workplace safety, environmental compliance, ergonomics, training initiatives, and regulatory reporting activities. This role is ideal for a health and safety professional who enjoys driving compliance, championing continuous improvement, and promoting a strong safety culture within a manufacturing environment. Work Setting: Onsite Location: Mississauga, ON Work Type: Permanent Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Undergraduate degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Human Resources, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WSIB requirements, environmental regulations, and related compliance standards. Experience administering safety programs, workplace inspections, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Required Skills Thorough knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety legislation and environmental compliance requirements. Experience with WSIB claims management, reporting, and return-to-work programs. Ability to conduct safety audits, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Experience delivering health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics training programs. Strong Excel, Word, database, and reporting capabilities. Ability to influence, coach, and promote cultural and behavioural change within an organization. Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Skills Automotive manufacturing experience. Knowledge of industrial ergonomics principles. Experience supporting IATF 16949 environments. Experience with environmental reporting, waste management, NPRI, HWIN, or regulatory compliance programs. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and maintain all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Ergonomics programs and initiatives. Ensure compliance with OHSA, WSIB, environmental regulations, and internal company policies. Coordinate workplace inspections, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities. Administer WSIB claims, reporting requirements, lost-time statistics, and return-to-work initiatives. Investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee activities, meetings, inspections, and documentation. Deliver and coordinate health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics training programs. Maintain SDS records, safety databases, training matrices, reports, and compliance documentation. Support environmental programs including reporting, permitting, waste management, and regulatory compliance activities. Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization and coach employees on safe work practices. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, environmental performance, and workplace ergonomics. Ensure compliance with IATF requirements and applicable customer standards. Requirements
Requires an undergraduate degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Studies, Human Resources, or a related field, plus at least five years of progressive health and safety experience in manufacturing. Candidates should have strong knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WSIB, and environmental compliance, along with experience in safety programs, inspections, investigations, reporting, training, and workplace communication.
