Position #: 150290 Expected Start Date: To Be Determined; Posted Until Filled Union: HSAS Facility: Unity Health Centre City/Town: Unity Department: Ambulance - Land Type: Casual FTE: 0 Shift Information: Days, Nights, Evenings, Weekends, Standby Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: EMS Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572 Travel Required: No Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Human Resources Exemption: No Education * Primary Care Paramedic diploma (PCP) Licenses * Valid Class 4 driver's license Other Education and Training * Current CPR certification * International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) * Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Competencies * Listening skills * Basic - Interpersonal skills * Written Communication Skills * Verbal communication skills Knowledge and Abilities * Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook) * Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice * Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking * Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues * Ability to work independently and as a member of a team * Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. * Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions * Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively * Ability to exhibit situational awareness * Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis * Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations * Ability to be resilient * Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care Other Information * Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level * No guaranteed hours The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
