Community Engagement and Communication Coordinator, – Full-Time Hamilton, Ontario Salary: $58,548-$66,504 Position Description: Reporting to the Director of Communications and Donor Engagement, as the Community Engagement and Communication Coordinator, you will develop will develop and implement a social media strategy for Indwell, Flourish and Gather. They will also coordinate community engagement initiatives in the Woodstock, Norfolk County, Hamilton, Burlington, and Sarnia, as well as other locations where Indwell is considering launching new programs. The coordinator will work closely with staff from Indwell, Flourish, and Gather on these community engagement activities which may include regular eblasts, collection and creation of stories and videos, coordinating government funding announcements, managing local media relations, arranging constituent tours, assisting with building launches, and helping to coordinate events. The Indwell Family has recently expanded to include Gather Housing Communities (creating affordable housing communities) and Indwell Housing Services (provides administrative and functional services and support to the Indwell Family of Companies). The Indwell Family of Companies is led by the CEO and governed by a board of directors that is mirrored for all four companies. Hours of Work/Location: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Weekdays with flexibility to work evenings as this position will require occasional travel to Indwell’s programs (mileage compensated). Primary location of work is the Hamilton Resource Centre. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Develop and implement a social media strategy for Indwell, Flourish and Gather being mindful of the unique audiences of each and ensuring that content is reflective of multiple regions and the breath of services that the Indwell family of companies provides Monitor social media metrics, propose and implement changes in order to foster increased numbers of followers and deepen engagement across audiences and channels Coordinate with Indwell, Flourish and Gather staff to gather stories, photos and videos to be used for social media posts as well as other communications efforts Coordinate with relevant staff to provide presentations, tours, and information to individuals, donors, schools, students, and community groups about Indwell and supportive housing in Woodstock, Norfolk County, Hamilton, Burlington, Sarnia, as well as new and emerging regions. This includes regular regional eblasts to supporters Support the development of positive relationships with individuals, faith groups, community and service groups, foundations, political leaders, business and corporate leaders, and other service providers in these regions by advising Indwell, Flourish, and Gather teams on community perceptions, concerns, and opportunities, and by coordinating engagement Work with the Events Coordinator and regional staff to develop and manage planning and communications for events in Woodstock, Norfolk County, Hamilton, Burlington, Sarnia and emerging regions, including the annual signature events, ground breakings, grand openings, and funding announcements Assist Flourish, Indwell and Gather in scouting new potential sites, participate in early community meetings as requested by regional staff, and help organize neighbourhood/community information meetings. Assist, as needed, in building launch activities Work with Indwell, Flourish and Gather teams to develop and implement community engagement strategies for expansion in new regions and projects, and expansion within current regions WHAT YOU WILL BE BRING: Qualifications: A commitment to upholding and modeling Indwell’s mission, values, Statement of Faith and other operating standards and policies, reflecting them in all interactions and decisions Proven success on social media platforms, with the ability to demonstrate increased and deeper engagement over time Good photography, videography, video editing, and story writing abilities Understanding of the needs and issues of communities such as Norfolk, Woodstock, Sarnia, Burlington, and Hamilton Knowledge of community engagement concepts, methodologies and tools Strong interpersonal, motivational, presentation, networking and communication skills Ability to engage community members, including leading information sessions, answering questions, and garnering support around an issue or topic Ability to effectively promote opportunities and partnerships, including being able to coach program staff in their public speaking/ presentation skills Proven ability to relate to and engage diverse groups of people Ability to work independently and with committees or groups Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and familiarity with on-line collaborative tools Must be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships Valid Ontario Driver’s License and use of vehicle is required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field Five+ years of relevant experience in a charity setting We want you to thrive: Vacation: 3 weeks (15 days) paid with 8 HEAL days (sick and personal appointments) per year Extensive Benefits paid: Extended health (100% medication coverage- some exceptions may apply), dental and vision care.
