As a Payroll Administrator 2 (PA2), you will be responsible for the preparation and processing of documentation required in the administration of all facets of the payroll function. Primary duties include:
- Process pay on a bi-weekly and year-end basis.
- Identifying pay issues and collaborating and communicating resolutions.
- Audit and problem solve anomalies by making necessary adjustments and communicating these changes to clients and invested parties as required.
- Comply with the provisions of the salary continuance plans such as Sickness and Accident, Homewood Health, Workers Compensation and paid leaves including health-related portion for maternity leaves.
- Proactively correct shortfalls and discrepancies to eliminate impacts on employees.
- Review and audit payroll registers to verify accuracy of pay and deductions.
- Calculate and process forms related to Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and issue Record of Employments (ROEs) to Service Canada.
- Calculate and process finals, retirements, resignations, and cancelled cheques.
- Maintain and process attendance records for payroll.
- Act as the first point of contact in troubleshooting any payroll related matters.
- Provide coverage for planned or unplanned absences.
Qualifications
- A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation and at least 3 years of directly related payroll experience is required.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with a web-based payroll and ticketing software including PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a large organization in a multi-union environment will be an asset.
- Well-developed organizational skills to manage a diverse and high-volume workload (ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, multi-task, track and meet deadlines).
- Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas to all staff in a clear and concise manner.
- A high attention to detail, the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team setting.
- A self-starter and motivated individual, and a strong team player.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

- Compensation: Pay grade 8 $39.00 - 52.14 per hour
- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
