About the role
The PCS division of Eaton, which designs automation systems for power distribution, is seeking a bilingual EHS Coordinator. This position is based either in our Mississauga, ON or Calgary, AB offices and offers benefits starting from day one. The hourly rate for this position is $36 - $42 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations What you’ll do: PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reporting to the Satellite EHS (Environment. Health, & Safety) Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting with planning, establishing, and maintaining the EHS program for Eaton’s Canadian Satellite Operations and CPDI (Toronto). The Satellite Operation includes six plants (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Lachine, Quebec; Mississauga, Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Calgary, Alberta & Delta, British Columbia). The position will conduct activities to help ensure Eaton’s compliance to all applicable health, safety and environmental laws, regulations and standards at all seven locations listed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Support the development of a strong EHS culture to achieve Eaton’s zero-incident target. Act in a way that promotes a safe work environment and advances EHS goals. Help generate initiatives that focus on prevention. Compile, maintain, and report EHS data to the sites and Corporate EHS representatives. Create and deliver EHS training to production and office employees. Assist in the implementation and continual improvement of EHS prevention programs. Assist and/or lead EHS communication activities. Complete hazard/risk assessments and support / lead staff in the development of safe operating procedures. Participate as a member of Satellite and CPDI Joint Health and Safety Committees, providing support to the plants to resolve open action items. Maintain EHS related documents. Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Minimum of college certificate or diploma or university degree. Must have 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience including general knowledge of Occupational, Health Safety and Environmental legislation across Canada and requirements for compliance. Bilingual verbal and written (English and French). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship. No relocation provided. Willingness to travel periodically between our two locations in Mississauga and Toronto as per business need. There may also be a periodic need to travel to other Eaton locations within Canada. Preferred Qualifications: Prior EHS work experience in an industrial or assembly environment Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (including Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) Skills: Position Criteria: Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to direct teams/committees. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Additional Information: Working Conditions: Risk control measures and/or personal protective equipment must be utilized for laceration, pinch point, mechanical and other safety hazards. Please refer to the workstation risk assessment for the applicable control measures that must be utilized. Environmental Conditions Hand powered tools and other machinery may lead to excessive noise; employees must wear appropriate hearing protection as necessary Physical Demands Ergonomic stressors may include: Heavy and awkward parts Lifting, pushing or pulling components and parts over 15 kg (35lbs) Repetitive motion Material handling Long periods of standing Employees are expected to utilize lifting aids, two-person lifts and proper lifting techniques to ameliorate musculoskeletal disorders and other ergonomic hazards.
