Hatch is currently seeking a Senior Civil Structural Designer to join our growing Infrastructure team. Reporting to the Lead Civil Structural Designer, you will be responsible for the preparation and development of 2D and 3D civil and structural design deliverables for a variety of infrastructure and industrial projects. Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, you will contribute to all phases of project execution, from early-stage studies and conceptual design through to detailed engineering and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Modelling
Prepare and maintain civil and structural 2D drawings and 3D models using industry-standard design software. Develop conceptual layouts and detailed design drawings for civil and structural works. Produce structural modelling and drafting for concrete and steel structures. Participate in the design of infrastructure and industrial facilities, including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, pump stations, water retaining structures, and related civil works. Develop design details in accordance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
Project Delivery and Coordination
Support the Lead Civil Structural Designer in delivering project requirements related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality. Coordinate design deliverables with engineers, designers, and project teams across multiple disciplines. Work closely with drafting personnel to ensure the timely completion of project drawings and documentation. Participate in multidisciplinary model reviews and clash detection activities. Assist with the preparation of project documentation and engineering deliverables.
Quality and Compliance
Review drawings and models prior to issue to ensure accuracy and completeness. Participate in formal design reviews and quality assurance processes. Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Promote and incorporate safety-in-design principles throughout project execution.
Field Support
Conduct site investigations, field verifications, and collection of existing site information as required. Support construction activities through field reviews, site visits, and resolution of design-related issues. Assist project teams during construction and commissioning phases when required.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in civil and structural design. Experience working in a multidisciplinary EPCM, consulting engineering, or industrial project environment. Proficiency with civil and structural 2D and 3D design software. Strong understanding of engineering design principles, applicable codes, and industry standards. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to health and safety.
Preferred
Experience with BIM modeling and multidisciplinary project coordination. Experience supporting large industrial, infrastructure, mining, or energy projects. Experience coordinating the work of junior designers and drafters.
Familiarity with Hatch standards, procedures, and project delivery methodol
