About the Job
As a Process Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing processes meet food safety, quality, regulatory, and operational standards. You will work closely with Production and Quality teams to identify process improvements, conduct audits, investigate non-conformances, and implement corrective actions. This role supports compliance with FDA-FSMA, SQF, customer requirements, and internal quality systems while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
About You
You are a detail-oriented professional with experience in food manufacturing and a strong understanding of food safety and quality systems. You have a keen eye for identifying process gaps, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions. You are comfortable conducting audits, working with cross-functional teams, and training employees to promote a culture of quality and food safety. Your knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, ERP systems, and continuous improvement methodologies enables you to support operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving Identifies process gaps and non-conformances. Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective/preventive actions. Drives operational efficiency and process optimization.

Quality & Food Safety Compliance Ensures compliance with FDA-FSMA, SQF, HACCP, GMP, and customer requirements. Conducts audits and supports regulatory and customer inspections. Maintains high standards of food safety, quality, and data integrity.

Collaboration & Communication Partners with Production, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams. Delivers training and coaching to employees. Communicates findings, recommendations, and improvement plans effectively to all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Identify non-conformances and continuous improvement opportunities, and developing corrective and preventive action plans to address root cause Collaborate with Production Supervisors to drive continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process Conduct routine and scheduled process audits throughout the manufacturing facility, including production, packaging, sanitation, and storage areas Drive adherence to all operational quality requirements (built on regulatory, customer, food safety requirements) by maintaining and updating a visual management system Evaluate equipment, process controls, and employee practices for compliance and efficiency Support internal audit programs and prepare for external inspections (e.g., FDA, GFSI, customer audits). Participate in training and coaching sessions with employees to promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement Ensure production data integrity through the verification of manufacturing transactions within an ERP
Recipe for Success
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering or a related field. 3–7 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment; pet food industry preferred. Knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, FSMA), GMPs, and audit principles. Detail-oriented with strong observational and analytical skills. Effective communication skills for reporting and training purposes. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and QMS or audit tracking systems. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and interact with all levels of staff. Experience using ERP or MES systems for traceability and process tracking.

SQF Practitioner certification Experience in the pet food industry Knowledge of SPC and process capability analysis Experience leading continuous improvement projects Advanced Excel skills (Power BI, Power Query, Pivot Tables) Experience with Intelex, ETQ, or other QMS platforms
