About the role
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Engineer will support tasks across diverse projects in the Oil & Gas, Energy Transition, and Green Energy sectors. The Mechanical Engineer is accountable for the timely delivery of engineering tasks and deliverables according to the project schedule. More specifically, this involves mechanical engineering activities to ensure the completion and production of engineering deliverables within the designated scope, while also upholding quality standards and managing any deviations in scope, cost, and schedule.
Responsibilities
Develop mechanical engineering deliverables (piping & instrumentation diagrams, equipment sizing, equipment / instrument data sheets, etc.) Demonstrate clear understanding of the project scope and develops plans to execute the work within given schedule. Participate in project review meetings and client meetings, as and when required by the project lead/project manager. As a team player, maintain interfaces with all disciplines and ensures that requirements of other disciplines and projects are catered to. Assists Mechanical Engineering Lead/Project Engineer in development of the Project Procedures Manual, Project Execution Plan, and other project initiation activities. Establish and maintain interfaces and a positive relationship with the client and all other external parties. Promote the use of company’s processes, tools, and procedures and project specific procedures and work processes. Achieve productivity, quality, and other performance-related goals. Comply with Company’s Code of Conduct, and all company and departmental policies and procedures including all Health, Safety, and Environment policies.
Qualifications
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. For Junior candidates: A minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer, ideally in the Oil & Gas industry. For Intermediate candidates: 4+ years. For Senior candidates: 10+ years For Intermediate and Senior: Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta; for Junior: EIT in Alberta (APEGA). Registration in additional provinces is an asset. Developing proficiency in mechanical engineering tools and methods. Knowledge and hands-on experience of mechanical engineering aspects of Oil & Gas industries; knowledge of CCS and green hydrogen productions will be an asset. Technical knowledge and understanding of discipline key work processes, as well as overall project development stages. Have knowledge of Canadian Oil & Gas industry and its standards, practices, and requirements. Good interpersonal skills and easy to approach. Solid problem solving, planning, and organizational abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Site engineering experience in Alberta Oil & Gas sector will be an asset. Experience in project reviews (HAZOP, SIL, Model Review) will be an asset.
