Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Supervisor will be responsible for leading and developing a team of 3-5 Accounts Payable Clerks/Specialists while maintaining a hands-on role in the accounts payable function. This individual will ensure timely and accurate invoice processing, vendor management, payment execution, and process improvement initiatives across multiple client engagements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical AP knowledge with leadership capabilities and enjoys working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, mentor, and support a team of 3-5 Accounts Payable professionals. Oversee daily accounts payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. Review and approve AP transactions while maintaining compliance with company policies and client requirements. Assist with vendor onboarding, vendor inquiries, account reconciliations, and payment issue resolution. Monitor AP aging reports and ensure outstanding items are resolved promptly. Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and account reconciliations. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency. Collaborate closely with Accounting, Finance, and Client Service teams to support client deliverables. Train and develop team members through coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing mentorship. Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as the organization continues to grow.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience. 2-3 years of supervisory, team lead, or senior AP specialist experience preferred. Strong understanding of full-cycle accounts payable processes and best practices. Experience reviewing, approving, and troubleshooting complex AP transactions. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership style. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting or ERP systems. Experience within professional services, accounting firms, outsourced accounting environments, or multi-entity organizations is considered an asset.
