About the role
CBCL is seeking a Buildings Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings Engineering team in Halifax, NS! Through all stages of the building design process, let your passion for sustainable design principles shine through by delivering exceptional results for our clients. As our ideal candidate, you have experience with designing building mechanical systems, in the areas of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building systems controls and commissioning, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy design and assessment. You are a motivated self-starter, who is excited to participate with an established team of professional engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary building design solutions, with an emphasis on client satisfaction and design practices. Your Key Responsibilities: Assist a design team to prepare contract documents for the following systems: HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building systems controls; Design of new construction and renovations of building projects such as healthcare administration, laboratory, assembly, recreational and residential; Coordinate design support staff across multiple disciplines; Manage projects to meet budget and deliverables; Meet and liaise with clients; Assisting with business development and proposals; Perform construction administration and field reviews; and Document, plan, and conduct commissioning and start-up activities. Your Capabilities and Credentials: Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering; Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia; Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; Additional professional accreditations such as PMP, LEED AP, etc. would be an asset; Familiarity in the design of mechanical systems using AutoCAD and Revit; Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude; Performs well under pressure to meet deadlines; Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and Valid driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canada.
