PART-TIME WEEKEND HOUSE ASSISTANT L’Arche Calgary | Calgary, AB Position Type: Part-Time, 20 hours per week Schedule: Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday Reports To: House Leader ABOUT THE ROLE L’Arche Calgary is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and community-minded Part-Time Weekend House Assistant to support individuals with developmental disabilities in one of our homes. The House Assistant provides person-centred support while helping to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful home environment. This role focuses on building meaningful relationships, supporting individuals in their daily lives, and encouraging choice, independence, and community participation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Build respectful and supportive relationships with individuals with developmental disabilities. * Provide assistance with personal care, hygiene, dressing, mobility, and other daily living needs. * Support individuals in making choices, developing independence, and working toward their personal goals. * Follow individualized plans and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), as applicable. * Support medication administration in accordance with L’Arche Calgary policies and training. * Prepare meals and support individual dietary needs and preferences. * Support recreational, social, spiritual, and community activities and outings. * Complete required documentation and report changes in health, behaviour, or support needs. * Assist with household responsibilities, including cooking, cleaning, and laundry. * Work collaboratively with the House Leader, team members, families, guardians, and other professionals. * Follow L’Arche Calgary policies and procedures and participate in required training and formation. QUALIFICATIONS * At least one year of experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities; L’Arche experience is an asset. * Post-secondary education in Disability Studies or a related field is preferred. * Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain. * Ability to support individuals with diverse needs, including following Behaviour Support Plans. * Ability to provide personal care and mobility assistance, including lifting up to 30 lbs. * Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills. * Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation. * Satisfactory Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, is required. * A Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver’s Licence is preferred. SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week. Applicants must have regular availability to work Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays. Specific shift times will be discussed during the recruitment process.
