Job Summary Langan is seeking a Practice Leader – Civil Engineering to spearhead the firm’s growth in Calgary, Alberta. This individual will play a key role in the continued expansion of our regional operations, serving as a growth engine within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a cross-functional team with the support of executive leadership and an established portfolio of diverse, high-profile projects. This is an entrepreneurial leadership position focused on driving business development, strengthening client relationships, and growing a strong local presence. Job Responsibilities Leverage an entrepreneurial demeanor to drive Business Development activities by developing new clients for the firm and maintaining relationships with existing clients; Work closely with regional leadership to develop growth plans and ensure staff utilization; Demonstrate experience in all aspects of land development engineering including the integration of geotechnical and environmental engineering; Lead site/civil efforts on a variety of project sites including the ability to design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through completion; Design and permit residential, institutional, commercial centers, warehouse distribution centers, and mixed-use projects for both public and private clients; and Performs other duties as requested. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; 15+ years of successful, local and related site/civil engineering experience with a concentration in community development on both small and large projects within Canada; Professional Engineering license; (P.Eng.) Strong client development and client management abilities; Site/civil experience on a variety of project sites including the ability to design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through completion; Proficiency of AutoCAD or Civil 3D preferred; Active participation in professional organizations; Experience in technical and proposal writing; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and Travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments. Travel requirements may vary by position and may change based on business needs. Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license. A minimum of 15 years of relevant site/civil engineering experience in Canada is required.
