IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY Senior Director, Privacy & Health Records Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Location: Northern Ontario Duration: 4-6 Months Remote(Occasional Travel) Our client, a respected health services organization, is seeking an experienced and transformational Senior Director, Privacy & Health Records to provide executive leadership during a period of organizational transition and change. Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will lead the organization's Privacy and Health Records functions while helping to design, implement, and embed a new operating structure that strengthens accountability, improves service delivery, reduces organizational risk, and aligns with evolving strategic priorities. This assignment requires an accomplished leader who can balance operational excellence with long-term transformation. The focus will be on modernizing privacy practices, optimizing processes, strengthening governance, enhancing patient and stakeholder experience, and leveraging technology to support a more integrated and efficient model. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in healthcare privacy leadership and a demonstrated track record of transforming privacy programs, mitigating risk, modernizing operations, and leading teams through significant change. Experience within healthcare, community health, long-term care, or other complex health service environments is strongly preferred. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic Leadership & Transformation Provide executive leadership to the Privacy, Health Records and Decision Support teams through a period of organizational transformation. Partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership team to establish and embed a sustainable future-state organizational structure. Develop and execute a roadmap to strengthen privacy governance, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. Assess current-state operations and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, service quality, and organizational performance. Build internal capability and ensure long-term sustainability through effective succession planning, coaching, and knowledge transfer. Privacy Leadership Serve as a senior organizational leader and subject matter expert on privacy management and information governance. Lead the enhancement and modernization of privacy programs, frameworks, policies, processes, and procedures. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices related to personal health information. Strengthen enterprise-wide privacy awareness and accountability through education, training, and stakeholder engagement. Lead privacy risk assessments and establish mitigation strategies that reduce organizational exposure. Support investigations, audits, breach management activities, and regulatory reporting requirements as required. Develop meaningful privacy performance metrics, dashboards, and monitoring processes. Health Records Leadership Provide strategic oversight for Health Records operations and services. Ensure the integrity, accessibility, security, and quality of health information across the organization. Support the modernization of records management processes and practices. Strengthen relationships between clinical, operational, and technology stakeholders to improve data quality and information management. Ensure health records functions effectively support operational, clinical, quality, and reporting requirements. Operational Excellence & Process Improvement Lead comprehensive reviews of workflows, controls, policies, and operating procedures. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, eliminate inefficiencies, reduce duplication, and improve service levels. Establish sustainable operating models that improve responsiveness and customer experience. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the team. Implement meaningful performance measures and service standards to support operational excellence. Technology Enablement Partner with Digital Health, IT, and operational leaders to leverage technology solutions that improve privacy management, records administration, reporting, and workflow efficiency. Champion digital transformation initiatives that improve the delivery of privacy and information management services. Ensure appropriate controls, governance, and risk management practices are embedded within new technology solutions. Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships with executive leaders, clinical teams, operational leaders, external partners, and regulators. Act as a trusted advisor on privacy, information governance, and records management matters. Successfully navigate complex stakeholder environments while driving organizational change and transformation. IDEAL EXPERIENCE Progressive senior leadership experience within healthcare, community healthcare, long-term care, home and community care, or broader health services environments. Deep expertise in privacy management, information governance, and regulatory compliance involving personal health information. Demonstrated success leading enterprise privacy transformation and modernization initiatives. Experience redesigning operating models, organizational structures, policies, and governance frameworks. Strong understanding of health records operations and health information management. Experience partnering with executive teams to drive organizational change and transformation. Track record successfully reducing risk, improving compliance, and strengthening customer and stakeholder experience. Experience leading large-scale process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. Previous involvement in electronic health record implementations, upgrades, or optimization initiatives. Proven ability to lead teams through ambiguity, change, and transformation while maintaining engagement and performance.
