Job details
The Opportunity: Join our client's team in Ontario as a Construction Estimator specializing in the Water and Wastewater industry. This role offers the chance to play a vital role in their critical infrastructure projects by providing accurate and competitive estimates. While the core focus is water/wastewater, our client is highly open to estimators with diverse backgrounds—including ICI, residential, civil, or other construction sectors—who are ready to apply their skills to this vital industry. You'll be a key player in ensuring project success across a variety of environmental and infrastructure projects throughout the province. What You'll Be Doing: Analyzing project specifications, drawings, and documentation to understand project scope and requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant Ontario regulations and environmental standards. Conducting detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for various construction disciplines, considering local market conditions and labor rates. Collaborating with project stakeholders, including municipal clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, to gather information and ensure accuracy of estimates. Evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiating pricing and terms to achieve competitive project bids. Utilizing estimating software and tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy and efficiency. Preparing comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns and project schedules, adhering to project timelines and strict municipal/provincial bid submission requirements. Participating in bid reviews and discussions with project teams to assess risks, opportunities, and strategies for successful project acquisition. Staying informed of industry trends, market conditions, and changes in construction costs specific to Ontario. Liaising with internal departments to ensure alignment between estimating and project execution processes. Providing ongoing support to project teams during pre-construction and post-bid phases, assisting with value engineering and cost-saving initiatives. Proven experience and absolute comfort managing and performing prequalification work (RFQ/RFP processes). You must be adept at gathering company data, compiling technical qualifications, and executing the mandatory paperwork required to short-list the firm for public and private sector tenders. What You'll Need To Be Successful: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience. Proven track record of estimating Ontario-based construction projects, with an ability to adapt to complex infrastructure specifications. While experience in water/wastewater treatment plants or pumping stations is an asset, candidates with a strong foundation in ICI, residential, or civil estimating are highly encouraged to apply. Strong knowledge of Ontario construction standards, municipal bidding procedures, and safety regulations. Proficiency in estimating software/tools and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with sharp attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and municipal representatives. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight closing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Compensation Range: $100,000 - $125,000
