Position: Manager, Specialized Services Salary: Subject to qualifications Classification: Full Time, 80 hours bi-weekly Program/ Location: Tina's Safe Haven & Wazonson Zagiiwaywin, 472 Selkirk Avenue Reports To: Director of Programs and Services General Responsibility: The Manager of Specialized Services is responsible for all aspects of the specialized services programs which include, but are not limited to, advocacy across systems, wellness and addictions counselling, sexual exploitation support services, gang awareness, and justice involvement. The Manager of Specialized Services is responsible for the management of the specialized services team. The Manager of Specialized Services will work collaboratively with both internal programs and external systems to that target harm reduction, crisis intervention, and the stabilization of Indigenous youth in our community. The Manager of Specialized Services assumes all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s philosophy, direction, and policy standards. Specific Accountability: Oversee the day-to-day operations of Wazoson Zagiiwaywin (Nest of Love and Care) and provide strategic direction. Understand and be committed to culturally centered service delivery reflective of Indigenous values. Provide supervision for staff as well as student placements and volunteers. Responsible for daily decisions regarding operation of the facilities; delegates tasks to staff as required. Respond to critical incidents and provide direction and support to staff. Provide on-call services for emergencies and emergency shift coverage as required. Ensure staff are engaging with youth. Fulfill reporting requirements and complete evaluation processes. Promote Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc.’s programs and services through sharing opportunities. Liaise with external and government agencies to ensure the youth have access to needed resources and all required processes and protocols are being followed. Share vital communication from leadership of Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc. to staff. Provide regular communication and written reports to the Director of Programs and Services and Executive Director as required. Maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with youth either past or present. Attend meetings and participate in training as directed by the Director of Programs and Services. Follow program budgets and ensure accountability in program finances according to Finance Policy; ensure regular communication with the Finance Department to monitor budgets. Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Personnel Policy and site-specific manual Performs other tasks consistent with this job description as per personnel policies and procedures that aligns with the support and growth of Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc. Human Resources: Provide orientation and training to new staff on internal policies and procedures with the support of Human Resources. Facilitate regular staff meetings and individual meetings on regular basis to ensure appropriate communication/supervision. Participate in the hiring and annual evaluation of staff in collaboration with Human Resources. Identify staff learning and training needs in collaboration with Human Resources. Develop and monitor staff schedules and timesheets. In consultation with Human Resources manage day-to-day HR issues as they arise in a fair and consistent manner that is reflective of Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc.’s Code of Conduct and policies; provide documentation to human resources for staff files. Implementing Human Resource policies in conjunction with Human Resources Responsible for team-oriented working environment that embraces Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc.’s values, philosophy, and strategic plan. Review and approve bi-weekly payroll submissions. Ensure staff training is up to date and not expired. Facility Maintenance and Safety: Establish and maintain a healthy, safe work environment. Ensure a timely response to identified repairs/maintenance needs; respond to urgent issues as they arise, report as needed. Ensure safety and health and fire safety processes are followed and completed. Ensure the process of maintaining the company vehicles are being followed; report any repairs required to Operations. Knowledge & Personal Experience Requirements: Post-secondary education in Human Services with preference given to those possessing a Bachelor of Social Work. Combined experience of post-secondary education and work experience may be considered. Preference will be given to graduates of the Indigenous Social Work program. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Indigenous community setting with knowledge of cultural-based services and traditional Indigenous knowledge. Must have experience of assessing high risk clients and responding appropriately. Management experience in a social service setting. Demonstrated understanding of a trauma informed approach in working with urban Indigenous youth with particular emphasis on youth with chronic involvement with the child welfare system, at risk for or experiencing homelessness and at risk for and or experiencing exploitation. Can approach work holistically using a wellness model which highlights and encourages youth’s strengths. Comprehensive knowledge of client centred mental health and addictions interventions, practice methods, and professional skills; experience with the Wellbriety program considered an asset Ability to think critically and be innovative to create/modify strategy or intervention techniques to suit the individual needs of youth. Ability to work in a team environment and independently without prompting. Strong conflict resolution skills and practice. Demonstrated experience managing a diverse team. Proven ability to work in a changing work environment. Effective assessment, relationship building, problem solving, and organizational skills. Knowledge of child development, separation and attachment issues, case work practices. Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft 365 applications (word, excel, forms, etc.). Subject to Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check. Valid Class 5 Drivers License. Requirements

Applicants need post-secondary education in Human Services, preferably a Bachelor of Social Work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with at least three years of experience in an Indigenous community setting and social services management experience. They should have experience assessing high-risk clients, trauma-informed practice with urban Indigenous youth, knowledge of mental health and addictions interventions, team management skills, a valid Class 5 driver's license, and the ability to pass required background checks.
