Position Overview Position Title Senior Accountant Department Finance & Administration Location North Vancouver, full time, in office Employment Type Term- 1 year Job Grade 6 Reports to Assistant Controller Schedule Mondays to Fridays, 8 hours per day, 5on2off Overtime Eligibility Overtime eligible Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting • Full Cycle Accounting - ensures all transactions are recorded and in accordance with IFRS. • Ensures all payments received are deposited and recorded in a timely manner and manage day-to-day operational banking activities. • Works closely with the management team on overdue accounts to resolve payment issues as quickly as possible. • Supports the Assistant Controller in the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for Neptune’s shareholders, management team, regulatory bodies, lenders, governments and other stakeholders. • Prepares account reconciliations. • Prepares GST/PST returns. • Supports activities regarding Neptune’s external auditors. • Ensures all processing related to labour costs is managed accurately and done in a timely manner. • Responsible for maintaining accounting data integrity of fixed asset and inventory records. • Ensures effective accounting application of depreciation and capital costs. • Assists with the preparation of ILWU timesheets and payroll (Local 500 and Local 514). Budgets and Forecasts · Assists the Controller to establish and maintain systems and procedures for all departments in the control and development of operating and capital budgets (as required) and forecasts. Information System · Brings information from industrial systems into the ERP, analyzes and converts data into information for end-users. · Manages the ongoing development and enhancement of Neptune’s Information System, taking a lead role in the financial and reporting applications. Internal Controls · In conjunction with the Controller, establishes and maintains appropriate internal checks and controls to ensure the accuracy of information and appropriate safeguards to protect Neptune’s assets.
