LUKE 0.3 FTE (Days TBD) Early Reading Support Effective immediately, For an indefinite period, but not to extend beyond June 30, 2027 Mandatory Requirements Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary Division French as a Second Language Part 1 Preferred Requirements Additional Qualifications in Reading Specialist is an asset. Knowledge and understanding of the Ontario New Language Curriculum Grades K-8 (2023), Kindergarten Curriculum (2026) Guides to Effective Instruction, Science of Reading and Acadience. Proven ability to implement effective instructional strategies in phonetic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension strategies. Provide one-on-one or small group supports to students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. Provide direct Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions and other supports. Experience and training in providing instruction to students who are struggling to learn to read. Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to supporting equity of outcomes for all learners and fostering an instructional approach in literacy. Sound knowledge of the programs and teaching experience in the primary division. Repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies. Proficient fluency in French as a Second Language. Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge and experience in implementing structured literacy and the use of student data to drive instruction. Understanding and experience in implementing the CEFR approach into FSL instruction. Commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner. Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies. Commitment to being an active participant in the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement. Knowledge of, and familiarity with, the school environment would be an asset. Additional Posting Information Current compensation, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Requirements

Applicants must hold the basic qualifications to teach in the Primary Division and French as a Second Language Part 1, with strong French fluency. Preferred qualifications and experience include a Reading Specialist additional qualification, primary literacy instruction, structured literacy and reading interventions, knowledge of Ontario curricula and reading resources, and effective communication and teamwork.
