Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2627-79 Educational Assistant - Aurora Middle School We are seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE)Educational Assistant to begin as soon as possible. These assignments involve assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. These positions require a compassionate and energetic individuals to work in a team environment. Aurora Middle School is located in the Town of Lac La Biche. Aurora Middle School has approximately 370 students in Grades 4 to 8. Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who Have Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant Knowledge and experience with behavioural strategies Experience working one-on-one and/or in a group setting Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers Knowledge and experience in alternate communications strategies Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans Training And Skills That Would Be An Asset Include Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training How To Apply Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website, in the employment section. Requirements

Post-secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant is preferred, along with knowledge of behavioral strategies, documentation, alternative communication, and Individual Program Plans. Experience supporting students with personal care needs is valued; SIVA or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and relevant experience in education, nursing, or rehabilitation are assets.
