Journeyperson Mechanic SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses. Duties * Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses * Diagnosing equipment problems * CVIP Inspections * Respond to breakdowns * Spring and winter maintenance * Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs * Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities * Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines Requirements * Journeyperson Ticket * Own hand tools * Fluent in written and spoken English * 2 – 5 years related experience * Valid driver’s license (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset) * CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset * Exposure to working on diesel engines * Analytical and troubleshooting skills * Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors) * Computer proficiency Remuneration * Hourly rate - $36 – $40 per hour based on experience * Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday) * Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation) * Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months) * Annual Tool and Boot Allowance - $750 (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
