Reporting to the Manager, Service Administration, The Client Service Specialist (Medical Underwriting), is responsible for reviewing applications, identifying medical underwriting requirements, coordinating with insurance carriers, employers, advisors, and plan members, and maintaining accurate records and systems. The position requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, client service excellence, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while resolving complex issues and escalations. The Client Service Specialist (Medical Underwriting) will: Provide day-to-day management of medical underwriting requests and the ongoing general administration and maintenance of group client activities. Assess applications according to established underwriting guidelines. Submit applications to insurance carriers and track progress. Gather, analyze, and verify medical and application information. Interact with clients, plan members and internal stakeholders to provide information in response to inquiries. Maintain internal systems to accurately reflect medical underwriting decisions. Provide support to internal teams with applicants requiring medical underwriting. Act as a liaison between employers, employees, advisors, and carriers. Follow up on outstanding underwriting requirements and decisions. Maintain security and confidentiality of client information. Contribute to process improvements and service excellence initiatives. To be successful as a Client Service Specialist (Medical Underwriting) with People Corporation, you will need: 2+ years of professional experience in the group benefits industry, including exposure to medical underwriting principles and practices. 2+ years of professional experience working in a client focused environment with a commitment to service excellence Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant field To bring a positive and professional attitude that encourages collaboration and relationship building To demonstrate strong conflict resolution skills, driving timely and effective outcomes Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal The ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet client and internal needs The ability to exercise sound judgment while taking a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information with discretion. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
