The Carpenter will work in the warehouse and on-site, depending on the work being completed. Carpenters implement scopes of work that adhere to the quality standards of Downs Construction. Responsibilities Maintaining professionalism and presenting Downs Construction positively to various stakeholders Interpreting and creating comprehensive scopes of work Demonstrating skill in the safe operation of tools and equipment Following all company policies and standards Completing all necessary documentation Coaching, assisting, and delegating tasks to labourers and sub trades Practicing good housekeeping on the job and in the warehouse Dealing with a changing work environment daily Understanding different municipal and provincial building code requirements Completing jobs in an efficient and timely manner Requirements Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) or work experience equivalent Must have a valid BC driver’s license, preferably class 5 Must be able to pass a criminal background check to our approval Must be detail-oriented Ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment Practical knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance is preferred Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures is preferred Willing and able to work on-call for after-hours emergency work Experience in the restoration industry is considered to be an asset Strong customer service skills Benefits After completing your probation period of three months, some of the benefits we offer include: FREE Extended Health and Dental Benefits! Tuition Reimbursement. $500.00 per year for each paramedical service we offer (i.e., massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractor). $750.00 per year for Mental Health-related services, such as clinical psychologists, registered clinical counsellors, etc. An additional $500.00 per year for single plans and $1000.00 per year for family plans via our Health Care Spending Account to put towards your extended health and dental benefits. Candidates must be a Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) or equivalent with a valid BC driver's license. Ability to pass a criminal background check and willingness to work on-call for emergencies are required.
