Research Associate

Position Summary: The Psychological Trauma and Stress Systems (PTSS) lab is a team located at the University of Regina within the Faculty of Arts. The PTSS lab is led by Dr. R. Nicholas Carleton, a clinical psychologist and expert of psychological trauma in Canadian public safety personnel (PSP). The PTSS lab team is dedicated to helping PSP thrive and backed by clinicians, researchers, and operational staff who provide evidence-informed lifesaving solutions to reduce the impacts of trauma and stress. Reporting to the PTSS Lab Operations Manager, the Research Associate will support research projects within the PTSS lab. This will include writing for both academic and public audiences. As part of the position, the Research Associate will be working together with the lab leadership team in any of these following activities: Survey development – conduct interviews with project’s interested parties, design and tailor surveys, and disseminate surveys for data collection. Data collection, analysis, synthesis, and interpretation. Preparing presentations and publications as well as lay summaries for knowledge translation. Assist with grant and proposal development. Support knowledge translation activities. Help direct graduate students and other staff in completing analysis and research tasks Supervision and training will be provided. Some remote work may be available for this position. Position Requirements: A graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Social Work, Education, Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Clinical Psychology or other relevant field. In addition, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: Theoretical knowledge, as well as experience with collecting and analyzing quantitative or qualitative data; Demonstrated experience with peer-reviewed research from conceptualization through to publication; Knowledge of mental health, psychological trauma, and psychological trauma-informed practices; Experience with research design; Advanced computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, web page management, social media); Experience with SPSS and reference management; Experience with qualitative or quantitative analysis preferred; Exceptional oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team; Ability to work independently; and, Strong organizational and time management skills. Considered assets for this position are: Previous experience working with public safety personnel; Project management skills; Experience with participant interviewing; Research management skills; Experience with dissemination of research (e.g., presentations, preparation of manuscripts); and, Knowledge and experience with psychological trauma, depression, anxiety, ethics, and assessment. The Research Associate will support research projects by developing surveys, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing academic publications and lay summaries. They will also assist with grant development and provide guidance to graduate students and staff.

A graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is required. Candidates must have experience in peer-reviewed research, data analysis using SPSS, and knowledge of psychological trauma.
