Position: Senior Accountant Location: North York, ON (Hybrid) Salary Range: $70,000 - $82,000 Job Type: Permanent Position Type: Open Vacancy Our client, a well-established not-for-profit organization, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of core accounting functions while supporting financial reporting, payroll, audits, and period-end activities. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the successful candidate will also support junior team members and contribute to improving accounting processes, controls, and systems. Key Responsibilities: - Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, revenue entries, reconciliations, and journal entries. - Review invoices, deposits, expense reports, and other financial transactions for accuracy and compliance. - Support month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, audit requirements, HST filings, and rebate submissions. - Review payroll reports, process adjustments, reconcile payroll accounts, and prepare payroll-related journal entries. - Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met. - Maintain financial records, support online banking administration, liaise with vendors and internal stakeholders, and assist with process improvements. Qualifications: - Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, with a CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA. - Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and financial reporting. - Strong experience with reconciliations, revenue recognition, payroll support, audit preparation, and period-end close. - Experience handling revenue from multiple sources, such as donations, grants, fundraising activities, or similar funding streams, is highly preferred. - Proficiency with QuickBooks Online Advanced and strong Excel skills, including pivot tables. - Not-for-profit experience, exposure to donor/fundraising or CRM databases, and previous experience guiding junior staff are considered assets.
