At Peel Region, we can create lasting impact, together.** Health Analyst, Population Health Assessment Health Services, Public Health Intelligence Status: Contract Full Time (6 months) Hiring Range: $81,977 - $92,224 per annum Work Mode: Hybrid *see below for more details about this work mode Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON L5W 1N4 Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm Who we are: The Public Health Intelligence division has a central role in monitoring and reporting on population health issues, identifying health disparities and emerging threats, conducting research, and advancing applied science and public health practice within the health department. Our goal is for the section's programs and services to be effective, evidence-informed and in accordance with Peel Public Health's strategic plan. The Population Health Assessment section applies epidemiologic and statistical methods to help monitor the health status of Peel residents. We play a major role in assessing and supporting strategic and program priorities for Peel Public Health and delivery of the Ministry of Health's Ontario Public Health Standards related to the 'Foundational Standard and Protocol', including population health assessment and health equity. What you will do in this role: Function as data guardian for population health and surveillance databases. This includes ensuring data are used and stored in accordance to data sharing agreements and the Regional health information privacy practices Obtain, clean and analyze data from population health and surveillance databases, and other Peel Public Health programs, as required Use analytical software and tools (such as STATA, R, Esri products - ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Excel) to organize, analyze, report and interpret health data Conduct technical analyses and prepare reports of health data for surveillance, population health status monitoring, program planning, program evaluation, answering epidemiologic questions, or for responding to requests for information Develop and present data products that support evidence-informed decision-making, including interactive dashboards, visualizations, maps, tables, and customized reports using business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau Provide support on technical and analytical issues related to health status and surveillance data Provide technical input on database design and maintenance Collaborate and provide analytical support to epidemiologists and other internal staff Updating and maintaining team procedural documents on health databases Provide expert and timely service when responding to ad-hoc data requests What the role requires: Honours BA or BSc in Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Studies, Life Sciences or other related discipline MPH Epidemiology or MSc Epidemiology considered an asset Minimum of three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of population health data sources (e.g. IntelliHealth, Canadian Community Health Survey) Ability to describe health databases and related policies/methods and limitations Ability to synthesize, analyze, interpret and communicate health/epidemiological information from multiple sources Knowledge and understanding of public and community health issues Skills/Abilities: Excellent analytical skills using statistical software (e.g. R, STATA, Excel) and mapping software (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, DAX, data transformation, and visualization of complex public health data Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within an interdisciplinary team setting Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with project management and organizational skills Excellent attention to details Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias Perks @ Peel and why you will love working for us: Enrolment eligibility into OMERS pension plan Accrue Vacation on a monthly basis starting at 3 weeks per annum 3 Paid personal days and floating holidays Flexible hours supporting your wellness and wellbeing Annual performance review and merit increases based on performance Supportive leadership and a culture of respect and inclusion Be bold.
