Software Engineer (Junior, Intermediate & Senior) – FPGA / Placement & Routing / Physical Synthesis Contract to hire Opportunity Our client, a leading innovator in FPGA technology, is seeking Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Software Engineers to join their Place & Route team in Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity to work on next-generation FPGA technology and contribute to the development of advanced software used in chip and hardware design. In this role, you will help develop state-of-the-art algorithms for placement, routing, and physical synthesis while working alongside highly skilled engineers in a cutting-edge semiconductor environment. What You'll Be Doing Design and develop advanced placement, routing, and physical synthesis algorithms Contribute to research and development initiatives for next-generation FPGA devices Improve software performance, scalability, runtime efficiency, and memory utilization Develop and enhance software tools used in FPGA design workflows Collaborate with engineering teams to create innovative solutions for customer requirements Support software quality, testing, and infrastructure improvements What We're Looking For Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Strong programming skills in C++ Experience with Python scripting and development Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Experience developing complex algorithms and software systems Understanding of software optimization, performance tuning, and large-scale systems Preferred Qualifications FPGA experience Electronic Design Automation (EDA) experience Knowledge of: Placement Algorithms Routing Algorithms Physical Synthesis Physical Design VLSI or ASIC Design Experience working in semiconductor, chip design, EDA, or FPGA environments Machine Learning experience is considered an asset Experience Levels We are hiring across multiple levels: Junior Software Engineer 0 to 3 years of experience Strong foundation in algorithms, C++, and software development FPGA or EDA exposure through academic or professional projects is an asset Software Engineer 4 to 8 years of experience Hands-on experience with algorithm development and software engineering FPGA and EDA experience preferred Senior Staff Software Engineer 8+ years of experience Proven expertise in FPGA, EDA, placement, routing, or physical synthesis Ability to lead technical initiatives and drive algorithm development Why Join?
