Position Description A Southridge Elementary School - 1.0 FTE - Grade K-1 -0.7Kinder, kinder gym prep and 0.3 ELL - Limited Duration Contract Teacher is required by School District No. 57 (Prince George). Applicants with assessment and trauma-informed practice experience are preferred. Qualifications And Experience The successful applicant must have or be eligible for membership in the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch, and possess: Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or proof of application). Copy of letter from the TRB stating requirements to attain permanent certification status if certificate is conditional. Knowledge of Ministry of Education’s redesigned curriculum and core competencies. Evidence of appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching. A proven ability with assessment as and for learning strategies. Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum (knowledge of First Nations Principles and the Principles of Truth and Reconciliation). The ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all learners in an inclusive setting. Successful experience integrating experiential and/or inquiry learning opportunities into the curriculum. Training and successful experience in teaching and supporting social and emotional learning. A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills. A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting. commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum. The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community. A current, valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel as required. Compensation Eligible teachers may receive a relocation allowance in the form of a three-year forgivable loan of up to $1,000 when relocating within British Columbia, up to $1,500 when relocating from Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba, and up to $2,000 when relocating from any other province or from outside Canada. Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $49,769 - $95,681. Salary is based on TQS and prior experience. Requirements
Applicants must hold or be eligible for membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch and have a valid British Columbia teaching certificate or proof of application; conditional certificate holders must provide the relevant TRB requirements letter. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of the redesigned curriculum, effective assessment and inclusive teaching practices, Indigenous cultural integration, social-emotional learning, classroom management, collaboration, and technology integration; a current valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are also required.
