Position: L.I.F.E Guide w/ Employment Specialist component Location: Surrey, White Rock, Delta, and surrounding communities Hours: 22 Hours per week, Flexible scheduling required-Permanent Part-time (ability to work additional casuals shifts as available) Salary: $27.81 starting wage Start Date: October 26th, 2026 We are looking for a LIFE Guide to join our Sources Community Living Services team! This individual must be passionate, engaging, and empathetic about working with people. Description Of Position LIFE Services represents Learning, Inclusion, Friendship, and Employment, forming part of CLBC’s suite of Community Inclusion services. Service referrals open to individuals served by CLBC with employment aspirations, it caters to those seeking increased confidence, independence, community integration, learning opportunities, friendship building, and the establishment of a natural support network. LIFE services are individually crafted to align with an individual's lifestyle, adapting support provisions based on evolving goals and requirements. These supports empower individuals to customize, lead, and appraise their services according to their preferences and needs. LIFE Guides collaborates closely with service recipients to co-create, deliver, assess, and consistently enhance service effectiveness. LIFE emphasizes a mix of support to help individuals realize their goals in employment, community engagement, and ongoing learning. Strategies within LIFE services integrate nurturing informal support systems and bolster personal skills and confidence. Reporting to: ESC Assistant Manager and Community Inclusion Manager General Responsibilities Building networks with community and employers Coach and guide Work effectively in a team and independently Providing support at home, in the community, and group settings. Program-specific Responsibilities Supporting individuals in achieving their learning, inclusion, friendship, and employment objectives, encompassing educational pursuits, community engagement, fostering safe relationships, and securing/maintaining employment. Create schedules to meet all individuals on guides caseload Utilize person-centered support strategies to reduce barriers and build on individual strengths Physical Demands of Job: *may vary based on client needs Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 50%, Walking/Moving Around - 75%, Sitting - 25%, Time spent outside - 50%, Bending/Crouching - 25% Cognitive Demands Of Job Independent Work - 50%, Task Memorization - 25%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 50%, Writing/Reading - 50% Qualifications You are knowledgeable or have experience in the areas of mental health/intellectual disabilities and applying person centered supports You have knowledge or have experience on supporting individuals to obtain and retain employment You have a valid driver's license, Class 5 or higher- mandatory and a vehicle in good working order that must be insured for work purposes (insurance top up and mileage reimbursed) You have empathy, are self-aware, take initiative and work with integrity You have the physical ability to engage in a variety of home and community-based activities Proficient interpersonal skills along with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are essential for this role. Requirements
Candidates need knowledge or experience supporting people with mental health needs or intellectual disabilities, and helping individuals obtain and retain employment. A valid Class 5 or higher driver's license, an insured vehicle for work purposes, flexible availability including evenings and weekends, strong communication skills, and the physical ability to participate in home- and community-based activities are required.
