Title: Data Governance Advisor Preferred location: Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto Duration: 12 months Job Description: Real Estate & Workplace Services (REWS) Governance and Planning team is seeking a Data Governance Advisor to support the implementation of its data governance program. Reporting to the Digital Solution / Data Governance Lead, this role will coordinate day-to-day data governance activities, track data quality issues and governance progress, and develop dashboards and reporting to measure outcomes. The successful candidate will help improve data quality, strengthen data stewardship practices, and support the establishment of sustainable governance processes across REWS. Data Governance Program Tracking (30%) Maintain data governance issue and action log, and progress trackers. Track completion of governance deliverables, including: Data ownership assignments Data stewardship assignments Business glossaries Data dictionaries Data quality rules Data quality scorecards Monitor data governance KPIs and report status to leadership. Coordinate governance meetings and document decisions and action items. Escalate overdue items and governance risks to appropriate stakeholders. Data Quality Management (30%) Maintain centralized data quality issue register. Follow up with Data Stewards and SMEs on open data quality issues. Monitor data quality metrics and trends. Assist with root cause analysis and remediation tracking. Support documentation of business rules and data quality requirements. Validate completion of corrective actions and issue resolution. Data Governance Process Documentation (10%) Develop and maintain data governance documentation, including process maps, operating procedures, governance standards, Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed (RACI), artifacts to support program adoption and sustainability. Identify documentation gaps and continuously improve governance templates, standards, and supporting materials to promote consistent governance practices across REWS. Dashboarding & Analytics (20%) Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and scorecards. Develop governance reporting including: Data quality metrics Stewardship coverage Governance maturity progress Issue aging and resolution trends Compliance status Create executive-level summaries and visualizations. Ensure data definitions and reporting measures are consistently applied. Stakeholder Engagement (10%) Work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business SMEs, and Technology teams. Facilitate data governance workshops and working sessions. Promote awareness of governance standards, processes, and responsibilities. Support change management and communication activities related to data governance initiatives. Skills and Qualifications Experience: 6–8 years of relevant Data governance and Quality Assurance experience Technical Skills Metadata management experience (Preferred) Power BI Advanced excel Data analysis and reporting KPI development SharePoint Data quality assessment Process documentation Power Automate
