Description Journeyperson Plumber/Gasfitter maintains a highly functioning work environment, providing outstanding experiences via the safe, efficient, dependable operation and maintenance of all plumbing and gas systems at the Banff Sunshine Village Resort and associated sites. They also assist where applicable with any other operational issues. Journeypersons are focused on safety, efficiency, and being approachable and courteous. The Journeymen plumber reports to the Building Maintenance Supervisor (or designate) while liaising frequently with Operations, other Maintenance departments and contractors. Job Functions Lead/assist/respond to all plumbing/gas related needs to all sites (buildings, lifts and the transportation center in Banff) including inspections, maintenance, testing, installation, troubleshooting, housekeeping, emergency response and researching recommendations for equipment replacements. Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities: Timely completion of documentation e.g., daily checks and reports, assigned logs, maintenance logs, inventory counts, worksite inspections, safe work plans. Communicating unusual operating conditions e.g., mechanical, operational, environmental. Comply with company policies, safe work procedures, manufacturer instructions, permit requirements, and applicable occupational health and safety, plumbing, gas, building, fire, and environmental legislation, codes, and standards. Timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and deficiencies to appropriate departments/personnel. Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time. Experience/Requirements Journeyman plumber/gas fitter certified in Alberta or willing to. Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, sound judgment, respectful communication. Willing/able to perform all duties or departmental tasks. Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours. Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves. Able to prioritize work and communicate effectively during service disruptions and urgent operating conditions. Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally and in a confidential capacity. Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative on or off duty. Effectively provide training, support, and assistance to coworkers. Attend and actively participate in meetings and training. Valid driver’s licence recognized in Alberta and an acceptable driver’s abstract. Ability to safely operate company vehicles and, following required training and authorization, applicable off-road vehicles and mobile equipment.. Additional Considerations Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty. The position requires prolonged standing and walking, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, crouching, reaching, trunk movement, and working in confined or elevated locations. The employee must be able to lift and carry assigned tools, parts, and equipment and perform pushing and pulling tasks associated with the position, with mechanical assistance or team lifting used where required. Hike and move around in an alpine environment. Previous experience in HVAC systems, propane distribution, building services an asset. Capable of using specialty equipment related to the trade. This role maintains and operates hand/powered tools/equipment. Candidates may be required to provide their own transportation to the resort. Candidates are required to provide and maintain CSA approved safety footwear. Uniform pieces (liner, outer jacket, outer pants, toque) are provided. This role has potential exposure to moving equipment, industrial chemicals electrical/pressurized systems, propane, hot surfaces, steam, hot water, confined or restricted spaces, Sewage/biological materials, noise, Loto. This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook and Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
