Health & Safety Advisor (H&S) Location: Port Moody, BC (Onsite) Employment Type: 12-Month Contract (Long-Term Extensions Likely) Compensation: $71–$77/hr INC Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (40 hours/week) TEEMA is currently supporting a leading Canadian energy company in the search for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support operations at a petroleum products terminal in Port Moody, BC. This is a primarily field-based position (approximately 80% field / 20% office) responsible for supporting contractor safety, conducting worksite assessments, identifying hazards, and ensuring safe work practices across terminal operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive Health & Safety experience in high-risk industrial environments, preferably within Oil & Gas, petroleum terminals, refineries, industrial construction or maintenance. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular field safety inspections, worksite assessments and Critical Control Assurance (CCA) reviews. Participate in safety meetings, contractor toolbox talks and daily safety discussions. Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with site safety procedures, regulatory requirements and established safety standards. Identify potential hazards and verify appropriate controls are in place before and during work execution. Assess high-risk activities including confined space entry, working at heights, excavation and hazardous energy control. Provide on-the-spot coaching and guidance to contractors and site personnel to reinforce safe work practices. Review contractor safety qualifications, training records and competency requirements. Support incident investigations and assist with corrective actions. Assist with hazard assessments, safe work planning and contractor Health & Safety Plans. Work closely with site leadership to identify safety trends, address recurring concerns and support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of Health & Safety experience in high-risk industrial environments, preferably Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refineries, terminals or heavy industrial construction. Recognized safety certification such as CRSP, CRST or CSO, or a diploma/degree in Occupational Health & Safety supported by relevant experience. Strong hands-on experience conducting field safety inspections, hazard assessments and contractor safety oversight. Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk work activities including confined space entry, working at heights, excavation and lockout/tagout (LOTO). Experience supporting contractor safety management, safe work procedures and incident investigations. Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and industrial safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage field personnel, contractors and site leadership. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in an active industrial environment. Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative, safety-focused team.

Requirements
Requires 10+ years of Health & Safety experience in high-risk industrial environments, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemical, terminal, refinery, or heavy industrial construction settings. Candidates should have a recognized safety certification or an Occupational Health & Safety diploma or degree, hands-on contractor safety experience, knowledge of high-risk work and regulations, and strong communication and organizational skills.
