TekStaff's Client has a current vacancy for " Data Scientist ” Job Description This is a 6 month contract located in Toronto, Ontario or Markham Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days work from home (could potentially go to 4 days in office). SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities – see below How much time is being spent in meetings – 2+ hours per day on average Who are they interacting with (internal/external) – Internal to client Will the contractor have access to any customer data? – Yes Reporting to the Senior Advanced Analytics Manager, the Data Scientist will be conducting all analytical activities related to FCRM transaction monitoring systems. •Work independently as a senior lead and may manage and direct activities related to analysis, design and support of technical data management solutions on various projects ranging in complexity and size •Provide maintenance of transaction monitoring scenarios, and analytical queries in support of the bank's strategic efforts to mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risk •Conduct activities related to AML/ATF scenario performance tuning, machine learning execution and model performance monitoring •Help maintain a structured documentation process to demonstrate an effective scenario review program to satisfy audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements •With assistance from management, assist with transaction monitoring related issues/questions from Global AML members, audit, and other partners •Analytical thought leadership and staying ahead of developments in data mining and the application of data science •Partner with FCRM teams to implement changes to existing solutions and/or the implementation of alternative solutions and serve as an ambassador for data science •Use statistical and machine learning techniques to build and maintain effective and efficient transaction monitoring, customer behavior, and risk scoring models • Provide insight into leading analytic practices, designs and leads iterative learning and development cycles, and ultimately produce new and creative analytic solutions that will become core work you're doing •Enterprise or functional expert, requiring broad managerial and deep specialized knowledge at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels •Work with various business teams to help identify areas for improvement and provide insights using supporting data and models to support business strategies. MUST-HAVE Hard Skills: 1.) Extensive work experience building predictive models with machine learning methods. 2.) Expert knowledge of Python, Pyspark, Data Bricks, Azure and SQL are essential 3.) Expert data explorations and analysis skills 4.) Ability to apply statistical techniques and data mining tools to solve business problem SOFT SKILLS: 1.) Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 2.) Strong interpersonal skills 3.) Self-motivated, well organized, able to work both independently and in a team environment 4.) Attention to detail and someone who is a self-starter and adaptable NICE-TO-HAVE 1.) Any Data bricks, programming or statistics certifications 2.) Java, Scala, tableau 3.) AML knowledge and experience on data-driven or data-centered projects 4.) Banking or financial institution experience TekStaff may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools as part of the applicant screening process. Extensive experience building predictive models with machine-learning methods, expert knowledge of Python, PySpark, Databricks, Azure, and SQL, and strong data exploration and analysis skills are required. Applicants should be able to apply statistical and data-mining techniques to business problems and demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and independent-working skills.
